What We Do

Camp DoReMi is a four day submersion in learning to sing shape note music in the seven shape (do re mi) traditions. We offer classes for complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced shape note singers. Our instructors are veteran shape note singers and singing school masters. The texts we use are The Christian Harmony (Walker and Deason-Parris) and The New Harp of Columbia.

On the evenings of Thursday, Friday and Saturday we offer a traditional shape note singing that is open to the public, as well as the camp participants.  Please see the Camp Schedule for details.

All ages are welcome, however, those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Wildacres retreat

Coming to Camp DoReMi at Wildacres Retreat allows you to escape to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to focus on learning and perfecting your shape note singing, as well as meeting and reuniting with family and friends who love the tradition.
